Subject: William Sandmayr's funeral, Ft. Smith

I would like to thank all of the WWii Reenactment Battalion from St. Louis for taking the days out of their busy schedule to honor my father William Sandmayr E co. 3 rd Battalion of Darby's Rangers in FT. Smith National Cemetery. This was not just a few hours, but days. Dressed in their dress wools in 100 degree weather to be pall bearers and also to give my dad a 9 gun salute that he so deserved. It was an honor for me to have them do this. Not only do these guys act the part of a Ranger, they live it. When one of their cars broke down, they found a way to get him so that "No man was left behind." The Darby History is so unique and as a Ranger daughter I want to keep it alive, and the reenactment do this with perfection. Thank you. I am grateful that you understood the mission of burying a Darby Ranger and succeeded in this mission. Rangers Lead the Way. Leaving the challenge coin on top of his casket showed your spirit. As I stood and watched as you quietly marching in formation to General Darby's grave site was the greatest tribute to Darby and his men. Thank you.

Subject: Helpful site

I found this site and all the vendor links very helpful for me trying to find a WW2 Ranger uniform. I'm in charge of the Ranger BN's at a paintball game called Oklahoma D-Day and the commanders are encouraged to wear period specific uniforms. I'll make it a point to post up a picture of my uniform after next years game.

Anybody interested in playing can find me at my website or on the Ok D-Day forum as "Hill"

My fiance and I attended the biannual event this weekend. I would just like to express how much fun we had. It is a great event, the Rangers are a great host unit and do a fantastic job. You know your having a good time when Allies and Axis are laughing together! The location is beautiful, the folks are friendly, and the event is just great. I can't say enough about how much fun we had. We look forward to attending WWII Weekend next month. (April 23-25) And attending the December Riverbattle at the end of 2010. Thank you for a wonderful event, we look forward to future events.

Subject: Seeking information about sleeve patch

Hi, My father, Anson Clark, was in the rangers with the 2nd Infantry division during D-Day. I believe that he was injured near Brest, France while assigned to the 29th Infantry Regiment (not completely sure of that). He was awarded a Purple Heart for his injuries and 100% disability via congressional award. I am trying to find out about a special skull and bones that was on the sleeve of his dress uniform. I can find no information so I am assuming that it was some kind of field insignia that wasn't issued by the army. Unfortunately, my step mother trashed his uniform while I was serving in the army during vietnam. I believe that the 2nd Rangers was the shoulder patch on his uniform but my memory is just so good since I am now 60 years old. Dad died in 2002. Any information about this insignia would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Anson, Jr FYi, neat web site.

I would to thank all of the re en-actors for taking the time to help pass on the history of all Rangers. My father was in 3rd battalion Eco, and was in the Anzio Invasion. I am honored to be a Ranger daughter and an honorary member of your group.

Subject: Riverbattle '09

Will you fellas be having the riverbattle again this year? If so, what weekend? We're trying to fill out our calendar for the rest of the year & there is talk about having an event up north about the same time you normally have yours (in this case, 12 December). If this is actually your date, I'll try to steer our guys to a different weekend. Some of our guys have come over the last couple of years & had a good time.
thanks,
Mike S (Fritz)
